About Us
Emmerton Elementary School proudly serves scholars from preschool through fifth grade. We are committed to providing a strong academic program while supporting the whole child and preparing every scholar with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for future success.
Our educators use small-group instruction, direct instruction, technology, and research-based strategies to meet the individual needs of our scholars. Our Learning Center provides additional reading and math support, and English Learners receive targeted English Language Development instruction. Through collaboration and ongoing professional learning, our staff works together to ensure all scholars have access to high-quality instruction and the support they need to grow and thrive.
Emmerton is proud to foster a strong AVID culture throughout our campus. Scholars learn organizational, study, collaboration, and critical-thinking strategies that build independence and prepare them for future academic success. We also begin conversations about college and career pathways early, helping scholars understand that their future may include a four-year university, trade school, or other postsecondary opportunities.
Our scholars also benefit from a variety of STEAM and enrichment opportunities. In our STEAM Lab, scholars engage in hands-on learning that develops creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and other 21st-century skills. Experiences include robotics, 3D printing, technology, engineering, and project-based learning. Scholars also have opportunities to develop their creativity and talents through visual arts, choir, and music instruction, including hands-on experiences with musical instruments.
Through our EXL program, we provide additional support and enrichment for families before and after the regular school day. Sunrise, our before-school program, begins at 7:15 a.m., while CAPS, our after-school program, begins at 3:30 p.m. and continues until 6:00 p.m. Scholars participating in these programs have opportunities for enrichment, academic support, and participation in a variety of clubs and activities.
At Emmerton, we believe every scholar deserves to feel welcomed, challenged, supported, and inspired. Through strong academics, meaningful enrichment opportunities, and partnerships with our families and community, we are committed to helping our scholars build a strong foundation for success in school and beyond.
